The British Friends of the Art Museums of Israel (BFAMI) is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to raising funds to support educational programmes run by the Art Museums of Israel. These programmes share the rich artistic culture and history of Israel alongside prominent international contemporary art, with future generations across all strata of society.
In recent years we have focused our fund-raising endeavours to support educational programmes targeted at more vulnerable social groups, such as children from deprived backgrounds, terminally ill children in hospitals and new immigrants suffering from negative social stigma to name a few. Together with these we are proud to continue our support of programmes reaching the gifted and talented, as well as Israeli soldiers. In addition, each year we allocate funds towards the acquisition of artwork for the Israel Museum, Jerusalem or the Tel Aviv Museum of Art.
Founded in 1947, BFAMI originally obtained funds solely for the Tel Aviv Museum of Art and later for the Israel Museum, Jerusalem when it was founded in 1965. We have since expanded our support to educational programmes run by additional 12 contemporary art museums in Israel such as the Herzliya Museum of Contemporary Art, Petach Tikva Museum of Art, Haifa Museum of Art, Janco Dada Museum, Nachum Gutman Museum of Art, Museums of Bat Yam (MoBY) and more.
