London Craft Week with Sotheby’s Design Series and a tour of Rosemarie Castoro exhibition at Thaddaeus Ropac Gallery
London Craft Week 2022 brings together over 250 established and emerging creatives from around the world in a citywide programme that celebrates craft from 9 – 15 May.
As part of its ongoing Design series, Sotheby’s London shines the light on Brodie Neill with a selling exhibition of 9 sustainable furniture pieces. Titled Material Consciousness, this selection of new works showcases Neill’s desire to reshape the world’s most precious resources into a range of collectable design pieces.
Thaddaeus Ropac Gallery invites BFAMI to view, the first presentation in the UK of works by Rosemarie Castoro (1939–2015), with Senior Global Director, Dame Julia Peyton-Jones. Castoro, a central figure in New York’s minimal and post-minimal art scene, spans four decades of her multidisciplinary practice. The exhibition, Working Out, focuses on her giant brushstrokes and gesso sculptures from the 1970s, shown alongside a site-specific recreation of her architectural intervention cracking and a grouping of important late works in welded metal.
