Who are you?
I am an artist and a mother.
What is your creative area of expertise?
Figurative painting.
Main inspiration?
Daily moments, the duality of life, light and colors.
Tell us a little bit about the work you chose to share
This painting began as a blank canvas, a moment of frustration, a desire to start over. Yet in the white void, I found a quiet peace – a space for reflection. The vast expanse of white evokes stillness and simplicity, while the subtle hint of red roses slowly reveals itself, creating a delicate contrast between presence and absence. Covering the oil with gesso reminded me of the fragility of the moment, how it might crack, much like life itself. The brief moment when sunlight hits a flower and casts its shadow on the ground inspired this piece. The interplay of white and red becomes a meditation on impermanence and fleeting beauty, inviting the viewer to reflect on the tension between what is visible and what is lost in time.
What is your work process?
I often use photographs as a reference point but mostly I try to find liberation in the process of painting itself. I use different motifs such as a lady on a horse and use them as a vehicle of exploration in color and mark making.
One special moment that happened to you this year
Watching Fiddler on the Roof at Regent Park’s open theater. In this sad year, the performance really moved me and I will always remember.
A piece of advice
Don’t be afraid, there are no mistakes – just do.
What’s next?
I am hoping to get back in the studio to paint on a large scale and I wish to find a residency in which I could dedicate myself only to art for a while.
