Motiva commissions bespoke artworks, created for individuals. ‘In Charge!’ is a unique Motiva created by Diane von Furstenberg, designer, author, philanthropist, and the force behind the 1974 wrap dress, long an icon of women’s autonomy. Diane chose Motiva as her platform because she believes in the power of image and words. Her contemporary portrait reveals fourteen sentences she selected from her book ‘In Charge!’, a clear intimate guidance on character, self-possession and courage (‘Being in charge is owning who you are’, ‘Fear is not an option’). Within Motiva’s illuminated letter grid, these sentences surface and recede in a quiet choreography, appearing, disappearing, and returning with new emphasis. Printed with archival inks on fine-art paper and framed as a museum object, the work is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity signed by the creator. The viewer is invited to experience the piece rather than merely observe it.
‘Who are you?
We are Motiva, creators of innovative art pieces that bring powerful words to life through patented technology, collaborating with iconic creators and individuals to turn quotes into timeless, illuminated artworks.
What is your creative area of expertise?
We specialize in bespoke intergenerational legacy art – fusing typography, design, and cutting-edge tech to make personally curated phrases, merged with art, glow with depth and emotion.
How do you find inspiration?
Empowerment through words. We draw from the wisdom of great thinkers, leaders, visionaries and any individuals to remind people of their inner strength, resilience, and potential.
Tell us a little bit about the work you chose to share.
“In Charge” is a limited-edition collaboration with Diane von Furstenberg. This striking piece features many of DVF’s iconic empowering quotes – “Being in charge is owning who we are”. Masterfully arranged in archival ink on fine Bukingford art paper. It’s a bold celebration of self-ownership, attitude, and fearless living. We’re proud to donate this unique work to the BFAMI 2026 auction to support art therapy and education in Israel’s museums.
What is your work process?
It starts with meaningful collaboration: we partner with individuals and curate their most powerful words. Then use our proprietary technology to design layouts, from there, its precise printing on premium archival materials, framing in hand-polished oak, and ensuring each piece carries emotional impact.
One special moment that happened to you this year?
Diane von Furstenberg responded to us offering her to participate in the BFAMI auction, she loved it!, she signed a special certificate and added her own few words for the winner. Seeing her excitement about Motiva, she was especially inspired because she believes in the power of image and words.
A piece of advice?
Own who you are – attitude is everything, and fear is not an option. As DVF says in the piece:
“When we doubt our power, we give power to our doubts. Trust your strength and find a way to share your inspirations.”
What’s next for Motiva?
More groundbreaking collaborations and creations and expanding our creator community to inspire even more people worldwide to make their bespoke versions.’
