Women in Art Lunch 2019

BFAMI Women in Art Lunch awards and recognises women artists and curators who have made outstanding contributions to the contemporary art world globally.

Our 2019 Guest of Honour was the American Artist Rachel Feinstein.

Feinstein is specialising in richly detailed sculptures. Her works have been exhibited in numerous museums and galleries in the United States, Europe and Asia such as MoMA PS1 New York, the Barbican Centre London, Minsheng Art Museum Shanghai, Liverpool Biennial, Frieze Art Fair to name a few. In recent years, her large-scale sculptures have been installed outdoors as public art exhibitions world wide.

Her work investigates and challenges the concept of luxury as expressed in eighteenth and nineteenth century Europe, in the context of contemporary parallels. It includes architectural stage flats, period room–inspired installations, and immersive environments.

Rachel was in conversation with Alan Yentob, an English television executive and presenter. He has spent his entire career at the BBC from where he stepped down as Creative Director in December 2015. They discussed Rachel’s role as an artist muse in addition to being an artist.
