Szabolcs’ creatures are born out of the rich history of Hungarian animation, which has, from its beginnings in the 1910s, drawn on Hungarian folklore and mythology for its inspiration, with morality tales and the grotesque being the dominant aesthetic.
Szabolcs has had solo exhibitions at Sifang, Shanghai; Almine Rech, Brussels; Semiose Gallery, Paris. He also featured in group exhibitions at Almine Rech, Shanghai; Primary Projects, Miami ; ABC Gallery, Budapest ; ARCO, Madrid ; Ramp Gallery, London and L21 Gallery.
