Three years ago the Rubin Museum initiated a new educational program made possible by a mobile show, supported by BFAMI especially designed for children in their own environment – taking the museum to visit children in their schools, and kinder garden classes particularly in underprivileged neighborhoods. This initiative has been widened to include needy areas in Tel Aviv and the periphery.
The Rubin Museum’s art-oriented childrens workshop fits into this program, offering a first exposure to art followed by four sessions in which the participants look at art, discuss it and share their own reflections and thoughts. The program culminates in a visit to the Rubin Museum to see “real paintings” and experience the museum’s intimate, authentic environment – most particularly the artist’s studio which has been preserved. The children then take part in one of our workshops, enjoy the materials and express themselves creatively.
